Precise English Presents 4 Easy Steps on How to Set Up a Facebook Business Page

Facebook Statistics

With over 400 million active users, Facebook has fast become the most popular Social Media platform in the world. Over 50% of these active users log on to Facebook in any given day and the average user has 130 friends, showing the enormous stature of this Social Media platform.

Facebook Business Pages

Facebook users are now able to create dedicated pages for products, brands or businesses, allowing them to market them in a whole new way online. Here at Precise English we have decided to shed some light on how to set up a Facebook page for your business:

STEP 1 – In order to set up a Facebook page for your business you will need to have a personal Facebook account. Business pages are managed and created through your personal page, requiring your personal login. It is possible to start setting up a business page and set up a personal page at the same time however, it is recommended that you first set up your personal page to get comfortable with the set up process.

STEP 2 – The setting up of your business page is relatively easy. Input your details into the relevant fields for your company description, mission, products/services, established date, etc.

STEP 3 – Many businesses in the past created ‘Groups’ on Facebook to advertise their business. With the introduction of business pages, businesses have access to the new Facebook ad platform allowing them to create a campaign. You are able to pinpoint specific details for your campaign such as location, keywords, demographic info, etc. With this information, Facebook is able to calculate the number of potential users that fit your target profile. For example, single, female, aged 25-35, graduated from X university, lives in X location, has keyword interests like X, XX, XXX, etc. Facebook displays the number of users highlighted and if a variable is changed, the user number is automatically recalculated.

STEP 4 – Once you have entered all of your business details, uploaded a few photos, and placed a link to your site, you can take a look at possible ways to advertise on Facebook. Facebook now offers a ‘Pay Per Click’ system similar to that of Google – you can select how much you’re willing to pay per click through, with higher bids getting better exposure.

Precise English’s 5 simple steps on how to set up a new Twitter account for your business

Background

Social Media Marketing has fast become one of the most popular forms of online marketing that businesses are using as part of their marketing communications plans. This relatively new form of marketing allows businesses to connect with their target markets, incorporating advertising, public relations, online sales promotion and direct marketing.

Social Media Platforms

Many organisations are using Social Media platforms such as Twitter to engage and empower readers to communicate with them. Popular platforms such as Twitter allow you to Tweet and post blogs to announce new releases. Below we have written 5 simple steps on how to set up a new Twitter account for your business:

STEP 1 – Visit the Twitter website www.twitter.com

STEP 2 – Before setting up an account, it is important to understand what Twitter is all about. Read all about Twitter and what it has to offer. Just because it is exceptionally popular doesn’t mean that it is necessarily right for your business.

STEP 3 – Click ‘Give it a try’ on the homepage to register your name, username, password and email. It is recommended that you choose a username that represents you personally or your business eg. CompanyName, and is the name by which people will recognise you. Read the ‘Terms of Service’ and click ‘Create my account’.

STEP 4 – The next step is to add friends or you can skip this if you wish to become more familiar with Twitter. Once you have successfully signed up, it will ask you if you would like to add friends. If you wish to skip this step, simply click ‘skip’, and you can add friends at a later time.

STEP 5 – Start Twittering! At any time you can change the appearance, icon, location and website on your page by clicking ‘Settings’.

UK see’s economy growth of 0.2% during first 3 months of 2010

The UK saw its economy grow during the first 3 months of 2010 by 0.2% between January and March according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS). The figure which may be revised, is lower than the 0.4% that was predicted by economists. During the last quarter of 2009, the GDP saw a growth of 0.4% which was revised from the initial estimated 0.1%.

Retail and industry sectors were dealt a blow due to the bad weather at the start of the year but industries such as the financial and business service sectors saw the bulk of the growth with 0.6%. Analysts continue to be optimistic about the UK’s recovery despite its growth being lower than predicted however; these figures may change as more detailed economic information is released.

The British Chambers of Commerce that new figures released continue to show the challenges ahead for the economy, with business owners bracing themselves in the event of the UK falling into another recession.

If you are a business owner that’s company has suffered during the recession Precise English would like to know your story.

MPs onboard with Social Media

The dissolve of Parliament on the 12th April means that there will be an election on the 6th May. This election means that the governing Labour Party will be looking to secure a fourth consecutive term in office and to restore the support lost since 1997. The Conservative Party, lead by David Cameron since 2005, will look to gain a dominant position in UK politics after its losses in the 1990s, and will hope to replace Labour as the governing party. The Liberal Democrats headed my Nick Clegg, are trying to make gains from both sides and their aim is to hold the balance of power in a hung Parliament.

The run up to 6th May means that all political parties are trying to get as much exposure as possible, with televised debates between the leaders of the three main parties in primetime. MPs in the past have been criticised according to reports, for using the Internet too much to inform and not enough to talk to constituents. This election has seen the three main parties using social media and blogs to exploit their full interactive potential. This push was started by the Labour Party who launched a campaign to encourage MPs to log onto Twitter and Facebook to keep in touch with its constituents, in the hope that by doing so it will encourage the younger generation to vote.

Social Media Marketing

The world in general has seen a dramatic increase in the number of people using social networking sites, including businesses that are using this as part of their online marketing strategies. Here at Precise English, we have been working with a number of our clients on Social Media Marketing to increase their visibility online. Social media has the power to make or break your online marketing campaign, and if your campaign is done correctly it can result in increased brand exposure, thousands of new website visitors, and even extra links to help improve your search engine rankings.

For more information on how Precise English can provide you with bespoke social media strategies, get in touch and we’ll be happy to explain everything in more detail.

Do You Have a Social Media Strategy?

Plenty has been written about Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), and how Social Networking sites can help with your online presence as part of an online marketing strategy. There has been a massive surge in interest for Social Media Marketing, and the majority of what has been written discusses what sites you should use etc. However, there’s not much about WHY you should develop your online presence.

Be visible, get found!

Business owners and entrepreneurs alike understand the importance of their website’s online presence. Ranking highly on the major search engines such as Yahoo and Google will increase online sales, and therefore profits. As a business owner, you should decide from the benefits of each option and which is best for your business. Blogging for example, is a great way even if you think you have nothing to say. If you are producing newsletters or press releases, this type of content can be used in a blog! You can then use your blogs on Social Networking sites such as Twitter, Facebook and MySpace, promoting them and gaining visits back to your site.

Luckily for us at Precise English we had no travel plans for over a month! We have just sat back and continued with our work; however, the ash disruptions have had an effect on some of our clients, as at Precise English we work with both national and international clients. Fortunately for us, our SEO Copywriting, Proofreading and Social Media Marketing services have continued with no issues at all!

Second Eruption

The second eruption of the Icelandic volcano Eyjafjallajokull on April 14th, has led to extensive air travel disruption across large parts of Europe. The controlled airspace of many countries has been closed to air traffic in response to fears that particles ejected by the volcano into standard aircraft corridors could damage aircraft engines.

If you have any travel disruption stories we would love to hear about them. Visit our website to find out more about our Copywriting, Proofreading and Social Media Marketing services.
